Airgent SMS (subdermal minimal surgery)
The AirGentTM system is a computer controlled, pneumatically driven system for treatment of aging skin, using the SMSTM technology. The system is comprised of a central console; an applicator and a disposable kit. The central console harbors the Graphic User Interface, which is used by the operating physician to control the parameters of SMS application. These parameters are used for controlling the full 3 dimensional dispersion of the jet containing the high mass HA molecules targeting the dermal cells: The 1D depth dimension is controlled by the applied pressure, set on the right hand side of the GUI. The 2D lateral-area dispersion is controlled by the dose selection on the left hand side of the GUI, together with the limiter placed on the patient`s skin. These allow the physician full 3D control of the skin volumetric treatment.

The Airgent Handpiece
The SMSTM kit, a sterile and one-time disposable, is mounted on the applicator contains a 10cc SMSTM fluid capsule, and disposable delivery system, ensuring sterility and safety. A single kit can be used to treat a skin area of 50-100cm2. The operating physician can thus configure treatment to individual skin types, anatomical sites and patient needs. The system was designed with the physician`s need in mind, putting emphasis on accessible user interface, and easy to maneuver handpiece.

The Console
The AirGentTM system is a computer controlled, pneumatically driven for delivering SMSTM fluid at high velocity and pressure, targeting of the dermal layer of the skin. The system is comprised of a main unit; an applicator and a disposable kit. The main unit harbors the Graphic User Interface through which the operator selects the treatment parameters for controlling the applied SMSTM fluid in 3D. The sterile disposable kit which is mounted on the applicator contains the SMSTM fluid capsule, and the delivery kit for driving the fluid into the skin, in a precisely controlled lateral square shape. The AirgentTM software adjusts fluid dosage and pressure for optimal dermal penetration and jet dispersal and can configure the treatment for individual patient needs.

1. Before treatment
Intrinsic skin aging occurs predominantly in the dermal layer. Changes in the connective tissue reduce skin's strength and elasticity, resulting in lax, wrinkled and dry skin.

2. SMS jet injection
Pneumatically accelerated jet penetrates the epidermis via a very small entry point. Once reaching the dermis layer, the jet immediately spreads laterally in all directions. Since the jet contains heavy HA molecules, these particles are also directed sideways (patent pending technology), to create a lateral dispersion. thus a 10mmX10mm square is treated from a single entry point (no overlap required).

3. SMS Nanobullets
the high velocity HA particles act as "nanobullets", as they disrupt dermal cells on their passage. This disruption initiates the wound healing process, which provides the long term collagen remodeling required (see below).

4. Skin appearance several hours after treatment
Excess carrier fluid from the jet is absorbed. Evenly spread HA provides an immediate aesthetic improvement by retaining moisture and adding volume, resulting in a thicker dermis and reduced wrinkles.

5. therapeutic endpoint
Long Term Skin Remodeling Collagen synthesis induced by the wound healing process. gradually replaces the HA immediete aesthetic contribution, providing long lasting thicker dermis, smoother skin and higher moisture content.
